From the Principal
Dear Families,
It has been a week of mixed emotions here at school.
Firstly we heard of the devastating news of the passing of one of our parents, Chris Tarrant, after a courageous battle with cancer. And then we had the incredible joy provided by our Art Show. I guess this just perfectly mirrors life, full of highs and lows. What I have taken from both is that our community is kind and caring, grateful and appreciative and for that, I could not be more proud. Thank you for supporting our school and each other in the generous way that you do.
Have a wonderful weekend, shared with those you love,
Terrielynn

Easter Metaphor
Creator of springtime,
how can it be that every year
I forget the miracles visiting
the land in the form of fresh leaves,
laughing flowers, greening grass.
Winter holds a strong power over me.
I lose the memory of vibrant vigour,
the unseen energy raising
dead earthen things to awakening life.
Risen One, dwelling within me,
how can it be that I forget you,
your passionate grace tending my soul,
your constant stream of hope
rising up through the dead ground
of my brown, barrened prayer.
I turn to you in this season of spring,
bowing gratefully
to every growing plant, every flourishing flower,
for each one sings an Easter metaphor
full of memory, proclaiming your wild embrace
of my inner life, a life holding the promise
of an eternal return to spring.

Prayers
Please keep members of our school community in your thoughts and prayers as they face some serious health issues.
We also wrap our arms around the Tarrant family, as they mourn the passing of Chris. We extend our deep and most heartfelt condolences to Sarah, Ollie and Savannah at this very difficult time. Chris was a kind and caring man, a loving husband to Sarah and beautiful father to Ollie and Savannah. He will be greatly missed.
First Eucharist
The Sacrament of First Eucharist was celebrated on Sunday 8th September at the 10.30am Mass. It was a wonderful gathering for the children and their families. Congratulations!

Sports Catch Up
Grade 5-6 Hooptime
Last Friday, 49 Grade 5-6 students travelled to HILAC for their Hooptime Carnival.
Our students did a wonderful job of playing with their competitive spirits, but also in a fair and sporting way. We are incredibly proud of the way in which our students conducted themselves throughout the day.
One of our All Star Boys team made it to the final, but couldn't quite overcome the final hurdle. We also had a showdown between our two All Star Girls teams in the final, with our Grade 6 girls taking home the spoils!
Our Future Stars and Rookies players also had a fantastic day, recording some wins, but more importantly, smiles and enjoyment of getting onto the court!
A thank you to the Year 10 Monivae students who assisted our teams with scoring today. We appreciate your help!
A thank you also to our families who supported our students and teams throughout the day. We thank you for taking time out of your day to come and watch.
Finally, thank you once again to Siana Causer and Woolworths for your donation of fresh fruit and water for our students.
What an amazing day!
Division Table Tennis
We have Sophie Uebergang, Isabella Templeton, Sineth Hansa, Darcy Walsh, Angus Smith and Billy Fitzpatrick playing in the Division Table Tennis competition in Warrnambool today. We hope that they have had a great day! Results will be in next week’s newsletter.

Child Safety
Yesterday was 'R U OK Day'. Thank you to everyone who took part and sent in a gold coin donation. A big thank you to the Larkins family who once again supplied a 'touch of yellow' for those that needed it. Money raised will be donated to WDHS Youth Services as this is where our SRC has chosen to donate the money to. Children did different activities to mark the day, talking about how important it is to check in with our friends to make sure they are OK.
SchoolTV has a Special Report that discusses R U OK Day. You can check this report out, via the link below.

Sustainability - Lids for Kids
Thanks everyone for your support with lid donations! We are collecting lots and lots of lids.
Some sustainability leaders spent some time this week colour sorting lids.
Please remember that lids MUST BE CLEAN AND DRY - NO MILK RESIDUE!
Also, please ensure that all WHITE INSERTS (usually in milk lids) are REMOVED before sending in the lids. Lids can't be sent for recycling with the inserts and it will make sorting much easier if they are removed before sending in. And remember, only number 2 and 4 lids are acceptable for our collection.
Thanks everyone!
