We had some amazing achievements from the Regional Athletics Carnival in Ballarat. It is a huge achievement to qualify for these events, and we had a range of students participating in a variety of events.

Charlie now qualifies for the State Athletics Carnival, where she will compete in hurdles. A huge congratulations to everyone!
On Friday 18th October, after a very successful Catholic Social Teaching Day the day before, our students put what they had learnt into action during our Annual Mission Day. Our 5/6 students once again outdid themselves running all of the activities. Here is a video of the day.
On Monday 21st October, we had two teams of eager Grade 3-4 students who played in the Regional Hooptime Carnival.
Our Future Stars team made it into a final and needing to win that game to qualify for the State Carnival. Unfortunately, they just missed out!
Our All Star Girls team had success on the day, winning each game they played. They have now qualified for the State Carnival on Monday 2nd December in Melbourne. This is the second year in a row that we have had a Grade 3-4 team qualify for this event!

We had 3 teams who played in the Grade 5-6 Regional Hooptime Carnival at HILAC on Monday 28th October.
Our All Star Boys made it into a semi final, but came up against a very strong opponent. They did a fantastic job competing and playing hard throughout the day.
Our Grade 5 All Star Girls team won 1 game for the day, but had 2 very narrow losses which might have put them in contention for the final if the results went in their favour.
Our Grade 6 All Star Girls team finished the day as the victors of the competition! They played out a 6-6 draw with the other finalist in the round robin match, but took the spoils by 4 points in the final. They now progress to the State Hooptime Carnival to be held on Tuesday 3rd December at the State Basketball Centre in Melbourne.

Charlie Moyle attended the State Athletics Carnival in Melbourne on the 6th November, competing in the 11 year old girls hurdles event.
Charlie finished 13th with a time of 15.79. 13th in the state is a huge achievement!
Congratulations on your efforts throughout the year for this event Charlie, we are all incredibly proud of you!
On Monday, our school captains, Luella and Sineth, laid a wreath on our behalf at the Hamilton Remembrance Day service at Melville Oval.
The students at school also held a service, marked by a minutes silence and the Last Post.

Congratulations to Isabella and Charlotte who ran in the State Cross Country in Melbourne on Thursday 18th July. To make it to state level, the girls had to first qualify at our school cross country, district cross country, division cross country and regional cross country before making it to state level. What an amazing achievement! We are so proud of you both!
On Friday 19th July, eight brave students headed up to a very icy Pedrina Park to take part in the annual Hockey 7s competition. We played three games on the day, with improvements being shown every game. Our first game we played against Good Shepherd, and lost 4-1. Our second game we played Coleraine and lost 2 - 1. The third game was a nail biter! We played Tarrington and achieved a nil all draw. There were some very close shots on goal though! Congratulations to all the students who took part.
What a beautiful day we had celebrating the very important role that Grandparents' play in our lives. A great chance to catch up, to share and to partake in an amazing spread for morning tea, thanks to our wonderful school community!
We had a great time celebrating all things books during Childrens' Book Week in August. Our Book Week Parade was a huge success with many people dressing up as their favourite book characters or matching the theme 'Reading is Magic'
After a rainy morning, the sun came out and we were able to celebrate all of the wonderful men; dads, pops, uncles etc, in our lives. We hope that you all had a terrific Father's Day.
We had some very excited students in both the 3/4 and 5/6 areas last week - it was time for the annual Hoop Time Competition! Altogether, over the two days, we had over 100 children taking part - Wow! Congratulations to all who took part and thanks to all the staff and parents who assisted on the two days.
Our Sacramental candidates received the Sacrament of First Eucharist on Sunday. It was a beautiful celebration - congratulations to everyone.
Last week we were blown away by the artisitc endevours of the St Mary's students at our Biannual Art Show. From 'Look Up' to the amazing 'Glow Cave' and the unveiling of our new 'cow', it was an amazing two nights, celebrating all things Visual Arts. The video below shows some of the highlights.
On Thursday 25th April - ANZAC Day - a number of our staff and school familes marched in the Hamilton ANZAC Parade and our school captains, Luella and Sineth, laid a wreath at the cenotaph on behalf of our school community.
Lest We Forget.
On Tuesday 30th April, our Grade 6 students were invite to join students from five other Catholic schools from our area to celebrate Catholic Education Week. We had students from Penshurst, Edenhope, Portland, Coleraine, Casterton and Hamilton all join together for a day of fun activities and celebration. At the end of the day, we came together for Mass to give thanks for all the wonderful things about Catholic Education.
On Friday 3rd May, we had a wonderful day at the Division Athletics Carnival held in Warrnambool. Congratulations to those students who represented our school so well! All the best to those students who move onto the next level in Ballarat in October.
On Thursday May 9th, we had about 45 students head to Lake Hamilton to compete in the District Cross Country. What an amazing job our kids have done! A number of students qualified for the Division Cross Country n Warrnambool next week. Good luck to all involved and congratulations to all students who competed so well at the District Cross Country.
Friday 10th May ~ What a beautiful day we had celebrating all of the amazing women in our lives. Thank you for all the you do and all that you are.
Our Grade 3/4 students headed off to camp on Thursday 16th May for one night. They had amazing weather as they headed out to the Wannon at 'The Outside Inn'. There were so many highlights - the giant swing, climbing wall and the Guiness World Record attempt to name a few! Thanks to everyone involved.
On Friday 17th May, we had a number of students head to Warrnambool for the Divison Cross Country. We are so proud of your efforts! Congratulations to those students who have now qualified for the Regional Cross Country.
On Wednesday 22nd May, we celebrated with over 2,359,147 children from all over Australia when we shared the story 'Bowerbird Blues'. We were all invited to wear a touch of blue on the day to celebrate the Satin Bowerbird's love of blue!
We had seven students who qualified and ran at the Regional Cross Country in Warrnambool on Monday 27th May. To qualify and perform so well at this event is an amazing achievement - we are so proud of you all! Congratulations to Bella and Charlotte who have now qualified for the State Cross Country in July! Go well girls!
Congratulations to our 2024 Peg Collery Memorial Scholarship winners for 2024. It is hard to choose just three recipients for this very special and coveted award, but, without a doubt, these three children are very deserving of this honour. Well done George, Mia and Erix!
Have you seen our amazing vegetable garden? It is producing the most beautiful harvest! Every second Friday, before Assemly, Lyn Donaldson and her band of very merry helpers harvest vegetables that are then available to purchase from the office - for a small donation. Our next harvest day will be Friday 14th June.
